| GERAKAN DESA WAWASAN (MISSION RURAL MOVEMENT) is one philosophy and Rural Development Strategy Towards 2020 by Ministry of Rural Development which has been the center for Second Transformation Rural Development to ensure rural society will not be left behind from the country development through one movement. |
| Launched by YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysia’s Prime Minister on 28 November 1994 at Bandar Pusat Jengka, Pahang. It is one of the efforts towards reaching the philosophy objectives, GDW Action Plan Program is prepared and announced to Ministry’s Meeting on 3rd July 1996 and Gerakan Desa Wawasan is officiated by Prime Minister at Kampung FELCRA Seberang Perak, Hilir Perak on 4th July 1996. |
| Towards the objective, rural development strategy is much emphasized on agriculture sector, infrastructure and basic amenities (village road construction, water & electric supply, mosque and etc) that have been implemented since National Independence Day needs to be change, suitable with the changing environment and also the Mission 2020 aspiration. |
| GDW Concept/Programme |
| GDW is a process to increase awareness and development among villagers towards changes and advanced development to rural area. This movement emphasize on energy unity, effort and villagers involvement in the planning process and implementation of development program in their village. It is a movement by citizens towards empowerment of “ADVANCE, ATTRACTIVE, PROFIT”. |
| Gerakan Daya Wawasan |
| GDayaW is an improvement programme from previous Gerakan Desa Wawasan programme and it is then changed to Gerakan Daya Wawasan (GDayaW). Its objective is to widen the rural residents’ thoughts towards Mission 2020 with new concept and re-launching by our ex-Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on 26th July 2003 at Stadium Bukit Jalil. |
| Rural development scenario is limited to physical and poverty termination. Success limited in economic and human development despite the fact it is one of the most important strategy in country development as included in DEB, DPN and DWM. The same goes to rural development movement; human resource development core is similar in Reform Movement (Gerakan Pembaharuan), Self Esteem Movement (Gerakan Jati Diri), Rural Development New Approach Movement (Pendekatan Halacara Baru Pembangunan Luar Bandar), New Philosophy and Strategy of Rural Development (Falsafah dan Strategi Baru Pembangunan Luar Bandar) and Mission Rural Movement (Gerakan Desa Wawasan). |

With this, the launching of Gerakan Daya Wawasan (GDayaW) is a strategic synthesis and improvement from two main approaches in rural development that is New Approach (1984) and Gerakan Desa Wawasan (1986) and give pressure to FORCE (a passion, desire and strength in individual/family and community including potential environment which will produce success.) which is the 3 FORCE :
“HUMAN FORCE”, “ECONOMIC FORCE”, “MARKET FORCE”
