Background of the Establishment of KEJORA
The South East Johor Development Authority (KEJORA) was established on 1 June 1972 under the South East Johor Development Authority Act 1972 (Act 75) and the South East Johor Development Authority Enactment 1972 which gave certain functions and powers to develop the South East Johor Region (KEJORA). KEJORA region is located in two districts, namely Kota Tinggi and Kluang, which cover an area of 333,364 hectares.
Functions of KEJORA
The main functions of the South East Johor Development Authority (KEJORA) are as stipulated in Section 2 under Act 75 as follows:
- To promote, stimulate, facilitate and undertake economic and social development in the Southeast Johor Area;
- To promote, stimulate, facilitate and undertake residential, agricultural, industrial and commercial development in the Southeast Johor Area; and
- To control and coordinate the implementation of the aforementioned activities in the Southeast Johor Area.
